Our vision is of a diverse and peaceful community, where all people are free to live with dignity, hope, respect and understanding.
Our mission: Forthspring works alongside people in creating an environment that builds trust and relationships within and between communities.
The Strategic Aims of Forthspring Inter Community Group
In 2004 Forthspring developed a three year strategic plan covering areas of work from 2004
- To develop a diverse range of programmes that promote Good Relations and encourage personal and community empowerment, ensuring the programmes provide developmentally challenging opportunities, encouraging innovative approaches and partnerships.
- To ensure Forthspring is a quality organisation with a reflective learning culture.
- To enhance Forthspring’s profile locally, nationally and internationally to share good practice and to seek a sustainable future for the organisation.
Sub Aims
- To actively promote a healthy living lifestyle.
- To encourage cross-generational understanding.
- To develop non violence as a core ethos underpinning the work of Forthspring.
- To ensure Forthspring is an ethical and environmentally friendly organisations in all its operations and models this as good practice.
- To actively encourage balanced and active involvement of the community we work alongside.
Key areas of Work for Development
- Non Violence Work:
the study and practice of non-violence as a real alternative to dealing with conflict. This work will be ongoing within Forthspring as well as with local schools.
- Multi Cultural Awareness Work: in an ever increasing multicultural Belfast, our plan is to engage with members from the minority ethnic communities in raising awareness and developing relationships “ full stop is missing in the end of this sentence.
- Engaging men: Finding creative and meaningful ways of engaging men within the various personal development and peace – building programmes
